As most of you can tell, I’m not really using this site right now…
So…yeah…
it’ll probably be more or less inactive unless I go travel or something…
But yeah, just stating the obvious…

Happy Birthday lily1 and to lily1′s twin brother (whose name I will not mention on here for sake of privacy)!!!
The two of them are turning 18 today, and I hope that God will bless both of you immensely on this special day!!! ^^
God Bless!!

I’m only about about halfway through winter break, and I’m already stressing out over the Spring 2011 semester!! XP
As of two hours ago, I have just completed my orders for textbooks for this semester.
It’s RIDICULOUS how many different sites there are to buy the books from!! Just the bookstores in town alone, there’s THREE of them. And then I had to compare them with amazon.com, textbooks.com, half.com, etc.
Which by the way, if you’re currently a college student or soon to become one, those two are a couple of good sites to look for cheaper textbooks.
(and yes, orithath and elanas, I DO in fact realize that I cheated on this post because I posted just about the same thing on DA).
~ Rin
I’m so grateful to God that all of you are in my life!! ^^
God Bless all of you!!!!! ^^
~ Rin
Praise God, all of my teachers have (finally) *coughs* uploaded my final grades for the semester.
I got ALL A’s!!!! ^^
All glory to God for His grace and mercy that he has shown me all semester long while I went through my first semester as a SIUC student!!
Thank you to all of you for praying me through these difficult times of hard studying!!
I know I couldn’t have made it through the semester without you guys!
Well, today was the last day of finals!!! Hallelujah, and Praise the Lord that it’s over (at least until semester…>_<)
I took the Speech Communications final today, and while I don’t know my results yet, it shouldn’t be too bad. The test itself was on 25 questions, and I finished in 15 minutes. So…yeah, I’ll leave it to you to decide whether or not it was easy…
I’ll update you guys as soon as I find out what I got.
~ Rin
Dun dun dun!!! Today was my ECON 302i final, one of the ones besides pre-calc and geography that I had seriously panicked over. Because my professor does the exams in the form of essay questions (very LONG ones), I was a little worried that I might forget something.
Well, as it turned out… I had been really nervous about this one, so I got up early this morning to study some more. I even studied in the car on the way there. And NO, I wasn’t studying and driving at the same time (that’d be dangerous (and pretty dumb…)). My dad was the one who drove us to campus because he had a meeting with some people at Starbuck’s in the Student Center (lucky…).But a friend of mine treated me to ice-cream at the Student Center. We shared a double scoop, waffle cone, mint chocolate chip (my second favorite ice-cream flavor) for only $2.70. And it was huge!!!!! It was fun (random cravings for ice-cream or sherbet in the winter always seem to come in at some point…) ^^
I get to my class at Lawson (a few minutes late…>_<), and our professor tells us to pick up the blue sheet of paper (that he folded and stapled shut) that has our names on it that he had put on the desks. Funny thing is, the first one I looked at happened to be mine, so I took it, and went to my seat. He told us to sit down and open them all at the same time, saying that “this is a once in a lifetime chance. you have a minute and a half to decide what you’re going to do”.
So, I open the paper, and it said “To Ariel Loh, your current grade in this class is an A, 95%. You have the option to not take the final. If you do not take the final, your grade will remain the same. If you agree to this, sign on the line below. Have a good winter break.” Then our professor said, “If you take me up on my offer, you can just sign the paper, put it up here, fill out a class evaluation sheet, and then you can get out of here.”
I was like “0.O! are you serious?!?!?!?!??!?!?”
Signed the paper, filled out the evaluation, and left the class with a 95% as my passing grade. WITHOUT having to take my final!!!!!!!!!! I’m SUPER HAPPY with the way things turned out!!!!!!!!!
Praise God and all glory to Him for His awesomeness in making my finals this semester go so well!!!!! ^^
Only one more to go!!!!!!!!
~ Rin
I just checked Blackboard (the database that some SIUC professors use to post up grades and such before they end up on the transcript, Salukinet, etc), and my GEOG professor posted my final grade for the class!!
I’m passing the class with a 91% (I got an 83% on the final exam)!!!
And while that’s not as good as I had originally wanted, I am SO happy that I did that well (especially considering the fact that I guessed on quite a few of the questions…)!!
All glory to God!! Through Him, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!
Well, so far so good….
Haha, I MIGHT actually finish my first semester of college with all A’s!!! ^^
~ Rin
Okay, so to those of you who are praying for me during this finals week (my first one after starting college >_<), I just want to say thank you SO SO MUCH!!!! I know that it was definitely only be the grace of God that I’m still sane after all of this! lol
Here’s how my first day went:
Got up at around…6 am because my first exam was at 7:50.
It was the pre-calc final, and it was going to be in the Engineering building, in a computer lab. The “test” is actually a calculus level test, so to get “100%” for the pre-calc final, we had to get “60%” of the calculus test. There were two sections: trigonometry and college algebra. In order for our grade on the final to count as a 100% for pre-calc, we had to get 60% on EACH section.
I finished the test in about 35 minutes, and I got a 64% on trig, and an 80% on algebra!!
The next exam was the English final. My hands were hurting for AGES after this final was over. We started at 10:10 am, and I wrote all the way till 11:50. In that total of 1 hour and 40 minutes, I handwrote 4 pages for the analysis paper. I think I did well on it, but we’ll see…I’ll keep you guys updated as to the results (once I find out what they are, anyway…XP)
The last exam of today was the Geography final…Please pray that that went well, because I studied a lot for it, but there were a few things that I just couldn’t remember…I went over it three times, and I STILL finished really early (in about…50 minutes out of the 2 hours that we were given to take it). So…I’m praying that that went well. I’ll let you guys know what I got as my final Geography grade…
All right, Day One’s over, I get a break on Tuesday, and I have only TWO more to go!!
By God’s grace, I’ll make it through!! ^^
~ Rin
It snowed this morning, isn’t it pretty? ^^
Unfortunately, as a result, we didn’t get to go to church…
Phooey XP
But I got a lot of studying done as a result, so I guess it wasn’t ALL bad.
~Rin
Well, it’s the Friday before finals…
*gulps* I emailed my instructors earlier this week as to where my grades are at prior to the final…
So, here are the results (the only one that I couldn’t get was SPCM…)
ENGR 111B (pre-calc)- 94%
GEOG 103-93%
ENGL 101- my English instructor didn’t actually give me a number, but she said that since out of four papers that I did, my grades were “A+, A, A+, and A+”…I don’t really have anything to worry about there.
ECON 302i- 95%
Next week is finals…I’m so nervous about it, but by God’s grace, I’ll do well on it!
Thank you everyone for praying for me! ^^
Getting to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader tomorrow should help alleviate some of the stress ^^ I hope they don’t butcher the movie too badly…
~ Rin
So…I’d been feeling mentally exhausted over the past few days from studying for finals, and finishing up papers and larger assignments, etc. I prayed and asked God to somehow give me a break so that I wouldn’t be killing myself over my first semester exams.
And guess what? God was faithful AGAIN!!!!!!!!
My pre-calculus teacher, which I have his class from 8-10 am every week, Monday to Thursday, suddenly announced that he’s canceling class tomorrow and Thursday!! In other words, I get to rest more and have a couple more hours to “un-stress” myself in the morning!!
Praise God!!! ^^
And let’s just say, I already have what I’m going to be doing during that time more or less planned out. God gets priority since he gave me this break in the first place, so I’m going to spend that time having my quiet-time! ^^ I’m already looking forward to it.
Of course, if I have some time left over, I’ll have to use it to practice for Jr. Fest (especially since my teacher just had me change songs a few days ago, and I don’t even have the full music yet. I currently only have the first page to work with, and it already looks hard…T-T)
In desperate need of your prayers!!!
~ Rin
So…someone I know somehow found a quiz that supposedly measures “girly-ness”.
The things people do these days…*shakes head*
I apologize to any guys who read this, because this doesn’t really apply to you guys. Or…at least I HOPE it doesn’t…
Oh, and by the way, my friend got a 78%. (that’s a really scary thought… *shudders*)
Here’s the quiz:

[ ] Flowers

Do you love these:
[ ] Pride and Prejudice
[ ] Becoming Jane
[ ] Letters to Juliet
Take your total, divide it by 42, and multiply it by 100.
There you have it. Your girly-ness percentage.
So, like I said. Weird quiz. But uh…ya.
Hahaha I personally found it VERY amusing that I only got a 21%.
lol things never cease to amaze me…
Oh, by the way for the boys who are still reading this (I applaud you in finishing this post ^^), the highest that you should ever score IN YOUR LIFETIME on this thing should be 10% (I rounded it).
So if you got higher…yeah. You get the point.
Wishing a very Happy 15th Birthday to one of the two Agent 99s!!!! ^^
Thank you again for inviting me to your party a couple weeks ago, and I hope that you have a wonderful day today!!
I miss hanging out with you guys, and may God Bless you on your birthday!!
~ Rin
If you haven’t seen this video yet, I am truly sorry.
You have been deprived of the epicness of Star Wars, all nicely rolled up into a single package of the LITERAL revenge of the Siths.
If you had 300 years to plan your revenge against the Jedi, this is DEFINITELY the way to do it.
Word of Warning though, don’t look at the comments that people posted on this video. Most of them are kind of bad….
~ Rin
So as a result of the flu bug XP, i’m still sick
Missed school today, which if you know me well enough, you can probably guess the level of irritation that I’m in right now…
My grade’s going to suffer if I don’t get well!!!!!!! XP
Not to mention, I’m going to have to do all the make-up work to take care of the days that I miss in addition to the work that I normally have to do everyday anyway!!
*sighs* If there’s one thing to having the strongest immune system in my family (which i do have), is that when i get sick, i get it WORSE than everyone else does, and i have to stay away from them b/c if THEY get it, it’s even worse than when i had it b/c only the stronger bugs get me in the first place XP
In addition to staying away from my family, that goes for my friends too…>_<
~ Rin
So today, as a continuation of yesterday, I was still sick.
Except now, it seems more like the flu T-T
Stayed home from school today, symptoms are getting worse and worse T-T
Please pray for me!!
~ Rin
So for some reason, my body decided to be uncooperative, and I’m sick today T-T
Brilliant XP on the day that I have an exam in Economics that makes up 1/5 of my grade, I’m feeling horrible.
It’s not going well at all. I seriously almost walked into a wall earlier this morning…
Head-spinning…headache, dizzy…
*sighs* I need Jesus so badly that it’s the only reason why I’m still even able to function!!
~ Rin
So, in case some of you don’t know, I’m one of those people who has a strange liking for clouds!
Especially those that might turn out like storm clouds or something. That doesn’t mean that I like storms, by the way, I just like the clouds.
I was taking so many pictures of clouds during our trip to Yellowstone that my parents thought I was going nuts!!
lol
well, I took these the other day. Some of them were just too good to pass up! ^^
hopefully you guys liked them as much as I did
~Rin
DA DA DA DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have officially completed Chapter 28 of the story, which is the end of Book One!!
And while I’m going back and editing and rewriting some of the chapters to elaborate on them and make them better as well as longer, I will also be starting to write Book Two!!
Yes!! A new challenge!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (let’s just hope that this time, it won’t take me more than a year to write…. Book One took me from May 2009 till now-November 2010))
Thank you so much to those of you who have helped me with prayers, support, suggestions, and especially for making the characters that resemble each one of you!! ^^
You guys are such a great help for me, I really have no idea how I’d ever pay you back!!
~ Rin
So at Monday Prayer meeting, after managing to hurt myself over the weekend, some wonderful people pitched in at to write a get well (card? letter? lol) letter for me, and it was so so funny!!!
I absolutely loved it!! I could barely make it through a line of the letter (namely, the second page) without laughing.
Michelle and Ms. Jan came over today, and they gave me flowers and the letter that was written in Monday Night Prayer.
You guys are awesome and I feel a lot better after reading it!!
I’m so grateful to God that I have friends like you to support me when I really need it!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
And by the way…I have every intention of keeping that letter for a very very LONG time. lol ^^
God Bless and know that I love you guys!! ^_^
(yes, i realize that half of this post was in the email that I sent you haha XD)
Here are some pics that I took of the flowers I got (which by the way, are obviously pink, but I don’t mind roses being pink ^^)
This second one is the better picture. I just included the previous one so that you could see the silver vase, and the RIDICULOUSLY shocking pink bow (now THAT one hurt my eyes a little haha XD)
~ Rin
So today was the church hayride at the Hindmans’.
I managed to invite my conversation partner Yu-Cen to come. She had fun, which was the main idea, so that was good ^^
And as usual…my sense of direction is terrible *sighs*. I totally forgot where Neely Hall was, so I ended up going around in circles, then eventually, giving up, got OUT of the car and went to ask someone where it was. So since it would take more effort to drive around to get there, I just ran over XP.
Then, ALSO as usual…the girls managed to convince me to act as their “bodyguard” again this year so that they could follow the boys around the cornfield at the Hindmans’ again and scare all the internationals that were on the hayride (which btw, is really fun. never gets old XD).
And then…haha a little something not so usual. Not going to go into details because those who would want to know already know what happened (and if you don’t, I’ll simply inform you the next time I see you). VERY long story short (trust me, it’s a long story. I repeated it at least 15 times tonight, so i know what i’m talking about):
in my role of “protecting” the girls, I hurt my arm (swollen and somewhat bruised) and I fell (VERY badly twisted ankle).
So ya…not fun.
It’s been a while since I actually cried over getting injured, but this time it actually hurt a lot XP
My main concern tho, was to make sure that the girls wouldn’t see me crying because I didn’t want them to feel bad.
To any of those girls that I just mentioned, and to my best friends in the world (you know who you are): LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR: even if what happened that night happens again, I will still do the EXACT same thing that I did this time!!!! I care about you guys A LOT, and I won’t let anyone hurt you so long as I’m there and I can do something about it!!!!!!!!
So, on the whole, Missions Sunday today turned out rather well (at least in my opinion, it did)
Here’s my opinion of everything-
Korean Presentation- it was pretty good, except that there were a few times when the slides weren’t in sync with the singing, but that’s just due to having to shift back and forth between slides. But the song had a pretty good beat, and was kind of catchy. It was the kind that you could clap to, so that’s always fun ^^
Okay, I’m going to say it right now. I’m IN CCF, so I’m going to be talking more about our presentation than the others. hehe >_<
Chinese Presentation- Sally’s a music major, so her rendition of the piano part was much better than anything that I could ever pull off. I was satisfied with the powerpoint, after all, I’m the one who made it…but mostly, I’m just glad that the format came out right.
My dad is the amazing song-writer and composer of this song!! We changed a lot of things at the last minute, but I think we did pretty good. There were a few instances of people going off-key (me included, I messed up one note in the harmony part >_<) and a couple wrong chords…but they wasn’t all that noticeable, so that was a relief.
The harmony parts were well-written and it sounded really nice! ^^ For once, I actually got to sing (not that I’d ever trade dancing for singing hehe ^^), but it was a nice alternative to just playing the flute all the time (again, not that I mind…). But I’m just glad that Sally ended up being the one to play the piano, because she did a MUCH better job. And I got to sing!! ^^ Although…I must admit, high notes and me only get along if we don’t encounter each other all that often… They’re still fun sometimes though. ^^
For those who didn’t get to hear it (or want to hear it again)- you can hear it here (right click and “save link as” if you want to save the mp3). It’s the recording of the one from Second Service.
By the way…hehe, if you can hear the higher harmony part at the end, that was me. lol ^^
Japanese Presentation- T-T I missed it both services T-T
Childrens’ Presentation- It was good, no one broke anything, no one dropped any of the flags (that would have been BAD) and the actions were mostly in sync…except for a few times, but they’re kids, so it’s okay. I must say though, they were kind of soft…People in the back were having trouble hearing them.
Indian Presentation- There were a LOT of Indians on stage!!!! Seriously! But then again, there are ALWAYS lots of Indians. haha Their song was pretty good though and the mixing of the languages was fun to listen to.
African Presentation- African group’s presentation is always fun, complete with dancing, and stuff that only Africans can pull off without sounding/looking ridiculous. They make it look awesome!! As usual, catchy beat, congos were awesome, and AFRICAN GUYS CAN SING RIDICULOUSLY LOW!!!!!!! Seriously!! I can’t even THINK about going anywhere near that range. They were singing all the way down to the last couple lower octaves on the piano! It was so cool to listen to!!!! ^^
I got to take a BUNCH of pictures (okay, only 21…) but that’s a lot considering the people that I was taking pictures OF. haha
So, to those of you who let me take pictures today, thanks ^^
All in all, Missions Sunday was awesome. No questions asked.
~ Rin
*phew*
Finally got all the registration stuff for the Spring 2011 semester finished, and now I can relax!! (well, somewhat anyway haha)
As for the run-down of which classes I’m taking, here’s the list.
Music 103
Engineering 101
Math 150 (aka, Calculus 1)
English 102
Economics 240 (aka Intro to Microeconomics)
Best part about next semester….I don’t have to start my classes until 9:35 at the earliest!!
hahahaha!!! YES!!!!!!!!! No more having to wake up for 8:00 classes!!!!
YAY!!!! ^^
~ Rin
I still can’t believe it!!
After just 2 extra hours working with my instructor yesterday on the Trig worksheets, I’m actually understanding some of it!!
This is really surprising!
So, I took the quiz today. Didn’t do as well as I would have liked, (i got an 85 T-T) but that was mostly due to several small errors…
I got 17/20, so…I guess it isn’t that bad.
But hey, I understand trig now! ^^
We still have two more lessons of Trig to do, and we will probably be having the Trig exam next Thursday, so please pray for me!
Thanks! ^^
~ Rin
We’ve spent about a week doing our Trigonometry unit in ENGR 111B (basically like Honors Pre-Calculus for those of you who haven’t been following along).
And in that time frame, I’ve learned that angles are no longer allowed to be just angles anymore.
Nope, now they are also radians, coordinates, and the worst thing of all, pi is involved.
Yes, I wish I meant things like apple “pie”, or blueberry pie (of which lis’ mom makes the BEST blueberry pie in the world, btw!! ^^)…
But OH NO, i mean PI, as in ?, also more infamously known as 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510…
Although, most human brains just remember this annoying little thing as 3.14 (at least, that’s all that I’m going to bother to memorize…).
The funniest thing that I’ve ever heard in reference to the Unit Circle, aka, the one gigantic diagram that has all reference angles, radians, and coordinates listed on it, was something that a friend of mine in class told me. He took a Trig class back in high school, and the way that his teacher explained the importance of the Unit Circle in Trigonometry was by getting up in front of the class and singing “It’s the Circle of Life!!!” (in which she was singing something from the Lion King movie, but it was absolutely hilarious because it was coming from her former student).
I haven’t laughed this hard in ages!!! XD
Unit Circle = Circle of Life…
It’s truly something to contemplate when you’re about to fall asleep in class or if you’re stuck in never-ending traffic
haha

Well, in celebration of Laymerial’s 19th birthday, Nora, Laymerial, and I all went out to Steak and Shake for lunch!
…I say lunch, but all of us actually just bought milkshakes haha
After that, we went out to Giant City Park and took a bunch of pictures as we walked along the Trillium Trail (Laymerial’s personal favorite, although I must admit, prior to then, I had never walked on it).
We had loads of fun and the weather was awesome!
Again, happy birthday Laymerial!! ^^
We should hang out more often!! (right, Nora?? lol)
