Quotes:

"He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun." ~ Psalms 37:6

Please please pray!! I can’t believe that there are people who would say this!

A woman named Virginia Ironside appeared on BBC yesterday, and this is what she said:

‘ If a baby’s going to be born severely disabled or totally unwanted, surely an abortion is the act of a loving mother. If I were the mother of a suffering child – I mean a deeply suffering child – I would be the first to want to put a pillow over its face…If it was a child I really loved, who was in agony, I think any good mother would. ‘

What is WRONG with this woman?! Abortion is SOOOOO not the answer!!!

What I’ve told you so far is only a little bit of the crazy things that she said on TV!!!

go to these sites to watch the full interview that took place.

Have I mentioned that we seriously need to repent on behalf of this sick, twisted world??

I saw this commercial on Glenn Beck’s program today on FoxNews.

The point of the commercial was to get people to reduce their “carbon footprint” in the world to save the environment has TOTALLY backfired!!

To make matters worse, they even told the public that they didn’t understand why people were having problems with this commercial!

They managed to take it off the net, but Glenn Beck managed to get a hold of the commercial.

These are some seriously insane, sick people that desperately prayed for…

Go to this site to watch it.

MAJOR WARNING: Do NOT watch this alone if you are at all sensitive to the sight of people exploding into  bunch of bloody pieces…and absolutely do not let little kids watch this. I was in shock for about…5 min after I saw this on the news, and I seriously felt like I was going to be sick. Seriously.

Do NOT watch this without taking precautions. The last scene with the lady doing the voice-over blowing up is particularly disgusting…

Don’t be surprised if the degree of gore makes you scream, because this has got to be the sickest commercial I’ve ever seen in my life…

I included the Glenn Beck site, and also the youtube sight. I have no clue how long this will be on youtube tho…

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/no-pressure-new-environmental-campaign-glorifies-eco-fascism/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q039mbAAr2E

We need to know what kind of things these radical environmentalists are capable of…

and seriously pray for the much-needed revival of America and that this nation will repent before it digs a bigger hole that it can never get out of (we’re technically already there, but these people are making it worse)!!

And yes, it’s a commercial in the UK, but it’s still alarming all the same…

I think I’m done for. Seriously…T-T

Tomorrow- Test in GEOG 103

Thursday- Test in ENGR 111B

Next Thursday- Test in ECON 302I and in SPCM 101

Monday after next- 6 page paper/analysis thing in ENGL 101

I’ve been studying basically the whole day today from when I got home to dinner.
Then after dinner, i started studying again, until now, and I’m going to be studying until maybe 12-ish tonight…

Keep in mind people that all of the studying going on tonight is just for the GEOG test…which is only the FIRST out of FOUR tests in the next two weeks!!!

I’m so tired, I was only half-way coherent while talking to orithath just now on the phone….

*sighs* don’t know if it was all that noticeable, but I could seriously fall asleep now, and the only thing keeping me awake is the fact that I’m scared of failing that test tomorrow…

Like I said earlier, I think I’m done for…

All right, back to studying…T-T

My childhood friend from 3rd grade (username: mpau_516 on this blog) is currently living as a college student in Bogotá, Colombia, which is her country (not hometown tho…). She was our neighbor while we were living in GA, and the first friend that I made in the USA! At the family housing in Athens, GA, we lived on the first floor and she lived on the third floor, so we were able to play together for long periods of time as kids.

mpau_516 with a group of children

She just sent me these pictures today, and mpau_516 is currently working with children there in Bogotá and is doing volunteer work!

Please keep her and the children that she’s working with in your prayers!

To EVERYONE who is looking at this post!!!
Particularly to those of you who are radical Christians, love Jesus, and are on fire for God!!!

PLEASE go to this website to watch this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhX7m3rF20c

Just in case you’re unable to get to the video through this link, here are some simple steps to follow:
1) Go to youtube.com
2) Type in “The Fire”
3) Look for the link for “The Fire (FULL) by Nate Pfiel”

This video is SUPER convicting and is full of all sorts of heart-breaking revelations!

WORD OF WARNING: if you’re the sensitive kind, make sure that an ample supply of tissues is somewhere nearby and within reach.

The video is really intense due to the editing that this guy does to make it seem like he’s talking non-stop.

In my personal opinion, this video is amazing, and should be watched to remind us all of exactly what Jesus did for us on the cross and Nate Pfiel asks questions that truly show you how our actions reflect our love for our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus!!

I hope that this video will help you to grow in the love of Christ, and encourage you to strengthen your relationship and continue your walk with Him!

Please take this suggestion to heart and watch it!!!

I promise you that you will never regret it! ^^

So, I went to lily1′s house today, and we had a lot of fun. Her mom taught me how to make American chicken and dumplings, and it was surprisingly easy!

haha, that basically means that I’ll actually be making it more often. ^^ (which means that i will actually get to eat it more than once in a blue moon for a change!)

And who knew that lily1 enjoyed eating dough so much? lol

Oh, and Orithath, you’ll probably enjoy this next part. When lily1 and her brothers were sending me home, I plugged in my mp3 player to their car, and they listened to your recording. It’s amazing how hilarious a car full of evil laughter can sound (sorry lily1, but I actually thought it was fun listening to that recording for once).

So today, for our ENGL 101 class from 1-1:50, everyone was more or less either early or on time. When 1′o clock came around, our instructor, Ms. McCarthy wasn’t there.

As a general “rule”, if the teacher doesn’t show up within 15 minutes, it counts as a “no-show” and you’re allowed to leave class and go home. Because Ms. McCarthy was late (and is normally early), we started counting down the minutes.

Many people were complaining with the same remark, “This is the longest 15 minutes ever!!” Now, this is a room full of engineering students. You’d think that we’d take charge of the situation, and turn our discussions into something intelligent, right?

You will never have been more wrong in your LIFE. First thing that happened was that it was awkwardly quiet, and most of us had our cellphones out, keeping track of the time. Finally, someone pointed out that we could technically spend our time talking because no one was around to tell us not to. And so, this group of future engineers decides to talk about…

drum-roll please…

“What kind of animal would you be?”

Can you believe it? That was the discussion of the day. Then when we got bored with that, we played hangman on the board. Isn’t this sad? To make matters even more pathetic, the guy that went up did this as the hangman thing:

_ _ _ _ _    _ _    _ _     _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?

He said that the category was “question”. So, since engineering students actually have brains in our heads, the first letters we said were “W, H, E, A, R, T”

Which gave us the result of

WHERE _ _    _ _    _ _ _ ARTH _?

we got the whole thing in about…2 minutes.

“Where is Ms. McCarthy?”

so ya, end result: she didn’t show up, so we all packed up and went home

Wasn’t that fun? This should happen more often! ^^

As I’ve said before, God is so faithful!!! And it’s SO true!!! He’s amazing!!!

Ever since I joined the GEOG 103 class in Lawson 161 about a week later than everyone else because I changed classes, i had been studying for this map quiz where Dr. Weinert would give us 10 pages of blank maps of different regions of the world (here’s the order: Europe, the region around Russia that stretched down to Turkey, Middle East, Africa, North America, South America + Latin/Central America, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Australia/New Zealand area).

The “quiz” was going to be worth 200 pts, and there were 163 countries that we had to memorize. Dr. Weinert said that since most of the time, the grades turn out badly, we had the opportunity to retake it but that if we did, the new grade would replace the old one, regardless of whether it was higher or lower than the original grade.

Anyway, I sat in front of a computer for 2 hrs just noting down all the location on these practice maps that she said that we had the option to print off from Blackboard, which was a website that some SIU professors use to communicate with students about assignments/grades.

We took it last Friday, September 10, 2010, and Dr. Weinert told us in class today that our grades were posted on Blackboard. I was really nervous b/c I had studied like crazy on Thursday night, starting from after dinner (8:30) until (1:30). Then on Friday morning, I studied while I was eating breakfast and in the 30 min that i was on campus before my class started. (I had a piano class in between breakfast and GEOG 103 for those of you who were wondering about the gap in timing…)

She showed the ranges of grades, and in a room of 175 people (I looked up the number on SalukiNet. I didn’t actually count heads, I’m too lazy for that haha). There were only around…20-25 people who got A’s, around 8-15 of those got an A+. 6 people got B’s, and quite a few people got C’s and D’s…and a SHOCKING amount (at least for me) got F’s…By F, I mean, 50-0. More people got in the 30-0′s range than in the 50-40′s range, which is kind of scary to see…

Anyway, so I just checked my grade, and I had a 200/200!!! Hallelujah, I don’t have to retake it!!

haha

Thank you lis for letting me borrow that globe from your house!!

Thank you so much to those who were praying for me!! ^^

Okay, now time for a “random” story pertaining to the quiz. Like I said, I was studying during the 30 min that I had before class. After about 15 min, they opened up the lecture hall, so several other students that had arrived early (and were also studying) and I all went inside. This guy sitting two seats away from me asked me how much i had memorized, so i told him that i had all of them done. He was like “wow…that’s impressive. I still have 25 or so to memorize.” Now, just from this guy’s facial expression, you can kind of tell that he thinks the whole memorizing different countries thing is pointless. Funniest of all, the next thing he said to me was “I don’t see why we have to memorize a bunch of pointless countries that aren’t even worth mentioning. I mean like, Singapore? Where in the world is THAT supposed to be? It’s probably some poor country that doesn’t even compare to the US.”

For those of you who know me, that remark didn’t sit too well…

Anyway, so i just stared at him and said “Uh…I’m from there, and for your information, we’re in the top of the world for Math and Science.” He kept his mouth shut for the rest of the time until class starts. haha XD

God is so faithful!!!

We had a quiz in ECON 302I (which to remind you all, is a third year class) on Tuesday, and I had been studying for it for a really long time. I wasn’t as stressed out over it as I was over the Pre-Calc test, for some reason though…

Strangely, the ECON class is actually easier…Probably because it’s more about memorizing different theories and policies and applying them. There are a few equations and charts, but Pre-Calc is MUCH worse in comparison, or at least it is in my opinion.^^

Here’s how the quiz looked like: we had 30 min to do it, and it was two essay questions, each worth 10 points, and a bonus question that was worth 3 pts. Dr. Grabowski (my professor) graded the bonus questions in much more detail because it’s bonus, so if we get the extra points, he wanted to be sure that we had it EXACTLY right.

Anyway, point is, we got the quizzes back today, and I got a 23/20!!!!!!!! aka, ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN!!!!!

So ya, I’m super happy about that!!

Thank you so much to those who were praying for me!! ^^

So that Pre-Calculus test that was today…

Let’s just say that studying for it this weekend was ghastly. XP

I finished ALL of my math homework for this unit on Friday afternoon, and the due date was Friday night, so I was making good time. So I started studying for the test on Friday night, and it was cool because I knew everything that was going to be on the test, so it was all good.

And then last night, I decided to do in-depth studying for the test, and I was stuck in my room studying from around 9-1230. I got to this one problem pertaining to domains of functions around 1145, and my mind went completely blank. I worked on it all the way until 1210, but I couldn’t figure out the solution. I was getting a headache from all this, and then as time wore on, I tried to “move on” to other problems, but unfortunately, the stress made me forget EVERYTHING!!!!! It was HORRID! T-T

So, since I was tired and stressed at the same time, I panicked. I even went to my dad to see if he could help me with it because my computer locks itself at 12… But unfortunately, he hasn’t had pre-calc in YEARS, and he can only remember up to Algebra II.

And well…I did something that doesn’t happen very often… *guilty laugh*

Anyone have any guesses at what happened next?

If you know me well enough, this should be a pretty easy question to answer…

We managed to solve it via my dad’s computer, so the problem was fixed in the end…at around 1 am.

hehe

Still don’t know what the results are yet, btw…

As an activity for Ash’s birthday, we went horseback riding.

I can now say (haha) that I was the only one from our family who didn’t come back complaining about aches and pains! lol

It was very fun, and I want to do it again!!! ^^

Thunder and Ash, Whisper and I, Jasper and Mom

Oh, and as a side-note, we saw wild turkeys, and my mom just about went nuts because she kept thinking “THANKSGIVING TURKEY” whenever she saw them. There were two groups, one group of 7 and another of…5 i think…

I can honestly proclaim my admiration for people who can fight using swords on horseback! If you can do that, you have my utmost respect! AKA, LoTR epic wins hands-down! haha

Ash’s 12th Birthday!!

Today was Ash’s 12th birthday!!

Happy Birthday Ash!!

And now…..I have to live with the fact that I’m sharing a room w/ a PRE-TEEN!!!!

AGH!!

She’s already able to drive me crazy, but this is just….*shakes head*

I’m probably going to go insane. She’s already using the “in one year, i’ll be thirteen” while singing method…

Praying long and hard that I’ll live through this…

And praying even harder for my parents because they will have TWO teenagers living with them for one year (yes, it’s only ONE year, but it might drive them mad)…

-Rin

Okay people, prayer is most DEFINITELY needed!!!

in addition to all those assignments that i listed earlier, I just found out that I also have a 3 page analysis due in my Economics class!!!

so, just a recap-

1) Geography test tomorrow!

2) pre-calculus exam on monday!!!

3) speech on tuesday in my speech communications class

4) test in Economics (THIRD YEAR level class) on tuesday

5) 3 page analysis due on thursday!!

Will probably go insane if she doesn’t pass all of these…

Some close family friends of ours from back home in Singapore sent us all mugs for our birthday!!

Thank you so much, Uncle ChinKar and Auntie Geok!!! ^^

Here's the mug that I got ^_^ Isn't it awesome?

I absolutely love mine!! And the first thing that I said, after laughing at the joke that Auntie Geok put in as to why she gave me this mug, is that “I want a frappe in this thing!!!!!”

WARNING: The following image which will be described will send you into another world where coffee reigns supreme!! Consider yourselves warned!! Haha ^^

Just picture it people: java chip mocha (coffee and chocolate) inside that huge mug (which means I get LOTS of coffee), topped with whipped cream, and mini chocolate chips!!

Here’s the joke behind it. At first glance, the mug says “whatever” which is a popular word among teenagers. But then, on closer inspection, you can see that it’s actually a verse, and each petal on the mug has part of the verse on it!!

Sep 082010

Okay people, prayer is SORELY needed!!!

1) i have a test on Friday in which we have to show the locations of 163 different countries, on a total of 10 pages worth of maps, and the entire thing is worth 200 points!!

2) i have an exam in pre-calculus on monday!!!

3) i have a presentation/speech/narration thing that i have to do for my speech communications class on tuesday, and the teacher hasn’t even told us what we’re going to have to do yet!!!!!!!

4) I have a test in Economics (which btw is a THIRD YEAR level class) on tuesday.

About to die from headaches due to studying…

Purin

Posted by at 8:36 pm  A Day in the Life of Rin
Sep 082010

So, I decided to make purin the other day and it turned out beautifully!!

Honto wa kawaii desu!!! ^^ I still can’t believe I managed to do it right!!

lol

btw, in case you don’t know what purin is, it’s also called flan or creme caramel. it’s kind of like the opposite of creme brulee because instead of having hard caramel (burnt sugar) on the top, it has a soft, liquid form of caramel, kind of like a caramel sauce or syrup. Reason why I called it “purin” is because it’s what the Japanese call it, it’s like their own version of “pudding”.

Purin’s main ingredient is milk. Unfortunately, I’m not quite skilled enough to make it from scratch yet, so I used the gelatin/purin mix from the box, but added the rest of the ingredients using stuff from home.

I’ll keep practicing because it’s really good!!!

OISHI DESU WA NE!!!

Poll #1

Posted by at 3:07 am  A Day in the Life of Rin, Friends
Sep 052010

Okay people, let’s take a vote here.

Who’s more animal crazy? Me or lis?

So, upon “relearning” things about higher math (by this I mean trigonometry and above), I remembered my reasons for 1) taking statistics in my Senior year of High School instead of Pre-Calculus or Trigonometry, 2) why math is SO not my favorite subject, 3) the reasons for why I actually had B’s making up part of my grades on assignments/quizzes/tests back when I was taking Algebra II…

Needless to say, I DO NOT like Pre-Calculus!!

I mean, back in High School, when they were teaching you about functions, and graphing, and how to solve f (g(x)) and equations that are “three-tier” so to speak (there’s a fraction on the top that involves variables like x or y, and it is being divided by yet another number or variable that is NOT in any other part of the equation just because whoever came up with the concept enjoys torturing people who would rather be doing other things with their life instead of sitting in a classroom staring blankly at a math worksheet that is due in 30 minutes and they haven’t even started!!!), they fed you the information SLOWLY.

Let me stress that again: S-L-O-W-L-Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Week one- they teach you what a function IS, week two- they teach you how to add/subtract/multiply/divide the things, week three- they educate you on how to graph them, and how they can actually GET confusing, but even then, it’s not that bad

Oh no, they couldn’t possibly do that in COLLEGE… the whole notion’s unthinkable!!

No, instead, they throw the WHOLE package at you, right in your face, in TWO DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 1- Okay people, remember functions? No? Well, too bad. Now you have homework to do in addition to this worksheet with 15 questions on it that’s due in…30 minutes.

Day 2- We’re adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing them today! Doesn’t that sound like fun? What’s that? You barely remember how? Well, here’s a 15 minute reminder, and oh, look at the time, I still have to teach you how to graph them and confuse you like crazy!!

Da dee da dee dum…

Now that I have you sufficiently confused because I’m telling you to do a graph and a “three-tier” function’s equation at the same time and figure out how to figure out what the domain of the square root of “x-4″, find the domain of f, g, f+g, f-g, fg, and f/g using the equation where f(x)= 4 divided by x +1, and g(x) = 1 divided by 6-x, everything will be great!

Now go do your worksheet and homework. This new worksheet’s due in 50 min, have fun. Oh, and by the way, you have a quiz TOMORROW.

And of course, the program online that you have to do your math homework on will mark you wrong on your homework because you said that “s to the power of 9 divided by s to the power of 9″  = “1″. It won’t specifically tell you to put it as “s to the power of zero” which by the way equals “1″ anyway, but since the program says it’s wrong, even though “1″ is a more complete answer, you still get it wrong anyway.

Have I mentioned that I HAVE A LIFE?! (well, at least somewhat haha)

Aug 302010

So, after you come home and step out of the car, what happens next?

Some of you will probably say that you haven’t the slightest clue,

some will say that you go into the house to eat or do homework or something, depending on what you were doing before you left in the car.

Well, to put it very plainly…That is NOT what happened today.

I get out of the car, and right there, on the floor of the garage is the dead body of what we think was a rabbit…(too big for a squirrel, no feathers, and it was kind of fat, so…)

Isn’t that great? Dead rabbit anyone?

My mom’s first reaction was: “why’s he hunting rabbits?! i need him to eat the moles!!! and why’d he have to leave the body here in the garage?!”

Anyway, my main comment on that is: the cat needs to eat too, but um….ew.

Aug 292010

Okay, Orithath just posted this on another site, and it’s funny, but unfortunately, it applies to me, so I’m having mixed feelings about it…

“Homo Squeakius is a sub-species of Homo Sapiens first discovered by Joseph Mendle in 1943 when he started poking his older sister, Helen. He then made several scientific studies on it which resulted in his best-selling book “Human Therapy: How Homo Squeakius can give millions of people hours of happiness and pleasure by exisiting.” He later won the Nobel Prize and the award for “Longest Title in a Scientific Book Chronicling a Subspeices of the Human Race.”

…Someone tell me why I still hang out with people like that?

Aug 282010

Okay, so i OFFICIALLY got tired of the lectures on Theater, so I decided to change the class to something that MIGHT actually interest me: World Geography (aka GEOG 103-001).

As far as I can tell, this class is going to be MUCH more interesting than…ya

You get the point.

I’m not into theater to begin with, so that class was beginning to push my limits just a bit…

Aug 262010

So…can someone tell me why I’m taking a Economics 302I class when I’m still a FRESHMAN?!

all of my other classes start with “10-” something, but for some obscure reason, I’m taking a 302I class…

huh, go fig.

Funniest/most troubling thing is though, when I walk in, I feel like I’m the only freshman in the room because everyone else in there is older than me by AT LEAST 2-3 yrs…

College Day 2

Posted by at 11:31 pm  A Day in the Life of Rin, School
Aug 242010

Day one is supposed to be the hardest, but I guess I heard wrong.

My feet were in absolutely PAIN when I got home, I could barely drive home because my legs were still hurting from running all over campus. Going from Pulliam to Lawson to Engineering is NOT my idea of fun T-T

Thank God I didn’t get any blisters on my feet although they were red and really sore when I came home. Not to mention the fact that I’m even more exhausted today than yesterday, and all I want to do is SLEEP, but I still have homework to finish (which to all of you who know me well, you know what THAT means…)

Here’s how the rest of my classes were today-

THEA 101- lots of people, 35-40 ish, teacher’s kind of vague at times…and the room is terrible, and the seats can seriously do a 180 on you while you’re sitting on them.

ECON 302I- pretty good. Turns out that Tamicka and Chai Lian are in my class, so that was cool ^_^ the professor is a good public speaker, so I’m more inclined to listen to what he’s saying instead of falling asleep.

SPCM 101- the teacher’s a nice guy, but he says a LOT of bad words, so…ya. I’m kind of half-listening out of the need to b/c he’s my professor, but I’m wishing I had a censoring machine or something so that I don’t have to listen to him swear…

Also, I just found out that I have to get ANOTHER book for theater which will cost 10.50, but i have to get it from the university bookstore. and it also seems that saluki bookstore is holding all the books that it has left for my pre-calc for those who reserved them, and that those with scholarships aren’t as important, so I’ll have to get the book for Pre-calc from another bookstore…*sighs*

I just got into college and I’m already not liking it…And it’s only the SECOND day! How in the world am I going to make it through FOUR YEARS of this thing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

College Day 1

Posted by at 2:35 am  A Day in the Life of Rin, School
Aug 242010

Many of you have asked me today, “how was your first day of college?”.

In 2 words- exciting + exhausting.

It’s exciting to think that I’m actually in college, something that I’ve always been around all my life as far as having a professor as a dad and attending a church where almost everyone there is a college student, but the thought of actually being one myself is truly an experience that I’m not likely to forget anytime soon.

As far as being exhausting, it didn’t really hit me until I came home after class today, and slept for 2 hrs that I was actually that tired.

so to those of you who are praying for me, please pray that I’ll be able to stay awake in class!!! (oh, and do well in school too…hehe ^_^)
